GORE® low drag filter bags deliver 20-30% utility savings to baghouses in the Iron & Steel Industry
ROMEOVILLE, IL., BETHLEHEM, PA and ELKTON, MD – October 11, 2016 – Micronics Engineered Filtration companies, C.P. Environmental (CPE) and United Process Control (UPC), leading filter bag change-out and mechanical service contractors for Industrial Air Pollution Control (APC) systems in North America, and the Performance Solutions Division of W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Gore) are pleased to announce a strategic alliance. The alliance encompasses the recently introduced GORE® Low Drag Filter Bags for the steel industry.

The new GORE® low drag filter bags deliver quantifiable performance advantages for air pollution control (APC) systems in the steel industry based on 4 key parameters:

• Increased baghouse airflow
• Increased fan energy efficiency (decreased energy consumption)
• Increased bag filtering efficiency
• Increased bag life

“We are excited to partner with leading U.S. baghouse services providers, C.P. Environmental and United Process Control, to accelerate the introduction of our game-changing filtration technology to the Steel Industry,” according to Louis Raath, Product Manager, W. L. Gore & Associates. “Our low drag filter bags deliver significant and already demonstrated economic advantages to steel plant operations – such as baghouses associated with Electric Arc Furnaces (EAFs) – and we look forward to collaborating with CPE and UPC to help steel plant customers realize these benefits,” Raath added.

“This alliance with Gore underscores Micronics’ commitment to providing customers with reliable, cost-effective APC solutions that draw upon the latest technology breakthroughs for delivering baghouse cost and performance advantages,” said Don Eldert, President, Micronics Dry Filtration Group.

“Gore’s dedication to product innovation and to exploring cost-effective filtration solutions that sustainably meet baghouse customers’ operating, maintenance, and environmental compliance needs is exemplary and well-aligned with Micronics’ emphasis on excellence as a consultative partner and one-stop-shop for industry-leading baghouse services. These services include inspections, filter bag change-outs, mechanical repairs, engineered baghouse improvements, and even rebuilds or replacements,” Eldert added.

Both Gore and the Micronics Engineered Filtration companies provide advanced filtration solutions to a broad range of industries including the steel, energy-from-waste, industrial coal-fired boiler cogeneration, aggregates/cement, chemical manufacturing and a host of other industries.

GORE® low drag filter bags are exclusively available in North America to customers of Gore, CPE and UPC, with expert installation provided by Micronics’ baghouse mechanical and maintenance services teams, the leading providers of mechanical and related services to APC installations in the steel, foundries and metal processing industries in North America.
